Description
This is a redo of my very first art trade with TheObliviousOwl, something special we decided to do for our first anniversary. :] This is his character Hannah, one of the protagonists of his Ascension comic.
I've been frustrated with school lately, so I decided to take some time off and work on something personal. There are some things I like better about the old one, like the colours of Hannah's skin and hair. It's not perfect, but I hope it's alright. I've got a long way to go, but it's nice to see how I've grown as an artist in one year.

The new one is so much more advanced, but I can't help but like the older version so much more. I love the brush strokes, colors and contrasts there - the new one looks kind of stripped of character in comparison to me because everything blends so well. I wonder if that's the improvement path for every artist? Most of the famous dA illustrators draw that way, smooth and more realistic, and the individual style is often lost on the way. But hey, this is just me and my taste, and the improvement is the improvement; it's not like an artist can't experiment and stylize once they master their art if they want to
